I know a lot of people don't like this time of year, but I love it. It is the only time when I really get a chance to stand in the garden and take stock of everything. In a few months everything will be growing so fast that I won't have a chance to stand and just look.
It is my time for reflection.
It is also a time for planning! Planning what I will plant, what needs moving and what I just want to get rid of.
So out I went into the garden this morning to have a look around and see what needed doing, even though it was only 3°C. I cut back a Clematis that I want to get rid of and am planning on recycling to a friend. I hard pruned the roses in the front garden and cut back the ornamental grasses. Unfortunately the grasses weren't so pleased at being cut down and fought back leaving me with several cuts on my hands.

I still need to lift the Clematis and also split one of my large ornamental grasses, but I think that will have to wait for another day.
Just to let you know, the patchwork is still out and growing. Perhaps I will get it finished this year after all!
