Fascinating fascinators!

I'm off to another ladies circle lunch next week and need something to wear on my head. So I have been busy this afternoon making a fascinator from an old dress.

Firstly I made a flower just like the burns night flowers, only with a strip of chiffon fabric instead of ribbon. Then I covered a plain headband with a tube of fabric in the same pattern. I then attached the flower to the headband.

I finished the whole thing off by supergluing some amazing feathers beneath the flower. What do you think?

I am rather pleased with my efforts and can't wait to wear it next week. All I need now is some matching jewellery!

Sugar-free Muffins.

It is my birthday next week, but since I always avoid working on my birthday I won't be in the office. So when I got home from work tonight I decided to make some muffins to take in tomorrow.

I don't eat processed sugar, so I have collected a few good recipes for sugar-free cakes over the years. I decided that I would make chocolate and orange breakfast muffins as they are very easy and quick.

I'm not sure what they will make of them at work tomorrow as not only are they sugar-free, but they are also fat-free and made with soya milk!

Personally I think they are delicious.

Make and take day

What a fabulous day Mum and i had yesterday at Emerald Framing and Gallery's "make and take" day in Chalfont St Peter.

Firstly we had a go at making some glass ornaments with Julia Hayward. We glued pieces of coloured glass to a clear background, once fired all the glass would fuse together to make a pretty hanging ornament. You can see our attempts below. I can't wait to see how they turn out.

We then had a go at making some mosaics with Teresa Mills.

I went for a straightforward T design, while Mum was a little more adventurous and had a go at a chicken. The chicken involved cutting up glass tiles to fit round all the curves.

We were so engrossed in our mosaics that we didn't notice the time and ended up having lunch at almost 2 o'clock. After lunch Mum headed home and I headed back to the gallery for a spot of card making with my friend Jacqueline.

I made two cards, a Mother's day card and a birthday card for my Aunt. I must admit that digital card making is much more my thing, but Jacqueline's instructions were so easy to follow that I rally enjoyed making these mixed media creations.

My name is Tamsin and I want to take you on my journey through the world of craft and lovely things.

I must admit to being a fickle crafter and love trying new things though my main loves are jewellery and fabric crafts.

I craft from my home in Oxfordshire, England, which I share with my lovely husband and Tabitha our cat.
