A time to reflect.

I know a lot of people don't like this time of year, but I love it. It is the only time when I really get a chance to stand in the garden and take stock of everything. In a few months everything will be growing so fast that I won't have a chance to stand and just look.
It is my time for reflection.

It is also a time for planning! Planning what I will plant, what needs moving and what I just want to get rid of.

So out I went into the garden this morning to have a look around and see what needed doing, even though it was only 3°C. I cut back a Clematis that I want to get rid of and am planning on recycling to a friend. I hard pruned the roses in the front garden and cut back the ornamental grasses. Unfortunately the grasses weren't so pleased at being cut down and fought back leaving me with several cuts on my hands.

I still need to lift the Clematis and also split one of my large ornamental grasses, but I think that will have to wait for another day.

Just to let you know, the patchwork is still out and growing. Perhaps I will get it finished this year after all!

Burns Night Corsages

I have been busy this week making some Burns Night corsages for my Mum. She is having a Burns Night dinner and asked me to get her some tartan ribbon. I was amazed at the array of tartan ribbon available and decided it would be a nice idea to make some corsages in different tartans that she could give out to her guests.

I hope her guests like them. I rather like them myself and think I will be making another trip to the ribbon shop to see what else I can find next week.

The infamous patchwork quilt

After talking about the 'infamous' patchwork quilt in my 'about me' section I decided I really should take some pictures and post them so you can see what I am on about.

This quilt has been part of my life on and off for almost 30 years. However I am determined to get it finished. Writing about it I now feel inspired to get it out and have another go! Hopefully it will stay out for a while this time and I will manage to make some headway.

So wish me luck and let's see how much I get done this time. Maybe 2012 will be the year that I finish the 'infamous' quilt, then again.....

The Curse of Project 365

In 2010 I decided to undertake "Project 365", taking a photo a day for a year and then turning them into a scrapbook.

In 2011 I spent most of the year scrapping the photos I took in 2010 and I am now finishing off December so it's nearly done. When it's all finished I will have the pages printed in a book that I can then look back at. I have put some example pages below.

I then decided that I would do "December Daily" in 2011, same sort of thing just only in December.

With the New Year approaching I started thinking about finishing my December Daily and said to my husband "Why don't I just keep going? After all I am going to be 40 this year. Another 365 project seems like a good way to celebrate this milestone birthday."

So here I am undertaking another 365 project! It is totally addictive....you have been warned!

My name is Tamsin and I want to take you on my journey through the world of craft and lovely things.

I must admit to being a fickle crafter and love trying new things though my main loves are jewellery and fabric crafts.

I craft from my home in Oxfordshire, England, which I share with my lovely husband and Tabitha our cat.
